Ex-Lovers Sit in Silence as they are Reunited for the First Time in 30 Years

Artists' Marina Abramovic and Ulay were in an intense, rollercoaster lover affair in the 1970s, performing and travelling together in a van they called home. Eventually they had to part ways and end their relationship, it was a heart breaking moment for both of them. As a fairwell, they decided to walk from the opposite ends of the Great Wall of China and meeting each other in the middle for one last embrace. They never saw each other since.

In 2010, Marina held a live art performance at the Museum of Modern Art as part of her MoMa retrospective, "The Artist is Present." In the display, she would sit across complete strangers as they stare at each in silence other for a minute.

During the opening night, without her knowing, Ulay decides to come to her show and participate in the performance. 30 Years has passed by from the last time they were together, so when they finally met again, both were struck by an intense emotional feeling - heightened by the fact that they could not utter words to each other.
